Travel Guide: Places to visit in Camiguin Island

So we booked our ticket for piso fare to Cagayan de Oro, next thing I did was to plan and research the possible side trips in our 5D/4N stay in Northern Mindanao. About 3 to 4 hours away by land and sea travel from Cagayan de Oro is the Island Born of Fire, the Camiguin Island. It is a pear - shaped volcanic paradise in the southern Philippines, granted with unspoiled natural attractions and rich in cultural and historical events. Considered as one of the top must visit islands in the country. Among nature's gift is the Katibawasan Falls, a 250 ft. waterfalls, it is the highest waterfall in Camiguin.

It is located in the upland area of Mambajao, Camiguin. The waterfalls' base has an invigorating pool where you can have a dip to very cold water coming from the falls. It is surrounded with ancient trees, which helps for the unceasing flow of cold and clean fresh water, wild floras inhabited around the proximity.

You can't resist to take a deep in a cold fresh water of Katibawasan waterfalls.

Happy me.

Another famous spot is the Sunken Cemetery, on 1871 to 1875, episodes of volcanic eruption by Mt. Vulcan subsided the town of Bonbon, sinking the cemetery of the town. The huge cross was erected in 1982 for the commemorative marker.

The huge cross is just 5 minutes boat ride from the shore. The boatman may ask 20 pesos each for a round trip.

It has a platform where you can take a picture and see the tombs below the sea.

Located at barangay Bonbon, Catarman, an old ruin church is situated. It is formerly called the Guiob Church. This is one of the oldest church in  the island. It was built in the 16th century and made from coral stones. On 1871, engulfed by the eruption of Mount Vulcan, the church turned into ruins and destroyed majority of the church.

At the back of the ruins of the Guiob Church is the remnants of the old bell tower, a convent and a monument with thick century old wall.

With the whole day Camiguin tour, it is a brilliant idea to experience the cold spring at Sto. Nino Cold Spring, flows with crystal clear and fresh water spring. Surely will invigorates your tired body and soul.

Spectacular islet lies off shore, the White Island
