Tinipak River: Daraitan, Tanay's Hidden Paradise

Bedazzled with the magnificent white marbles and boulders of limestone sprinkled around the throne of Tinipak River. Perceive the serene stream, the chirping birds above you and feel the cold breeze while trekking in the woodland alongside of the river. Hold your breath for the amazing view when you reach the highest point which windows the real beauty of this lost world.

Tinipak River is cradled in the hidden paradise of Brgy. Daraitan in Tanay, Rizal. Brgy. Daraitan is a humble traditional community lies in the foot of Sierra Madre Mountain. Today, Daraitan is fast becoming popular as one of the must-visit destinations in Tanay for it offers a wide array of nature tripping activities and one of those is the river system trekking in Tinipak River.

Me, Paul and Lee

Adventure seekers will definitely love this place for it is accompanied by enigmatic stories behind the formation of the marbles and limestone. On the way to this enchanting Tinipak river is a sporadic muddy, slippery trail and grassland. Deathtifying wall climbing, rappelling and rock climbing are present. Really, this place is packed with adrenaline rush activities.  In soundless flow of the river, one can do river crossing to do spelunking for the mouth of the cave is on the other side. Unfortunately, during our visit, strong current didn't permit us so. Safety first!

The trail.

The highlights of the trek are getting to the spot of the glorious giant sized marbles carved and swimming in the most tranquil part of the river. The water is refreshingly cool, freezing though!

Moreover, Tinipak River is awarded as the cleanest inland body of water in Region IV.

How to get to Tinipak River, Daraitan

1. From Starmall FX/van Terminal, Shaw Boulevard, ride a van bound to Tanay, Rizal for 70Php. The van stops at the Tanay Public Market. Travel time is about 1.5 – 2 hours.

2. In Tanay Public Market, hire a tricycle going to Brgy. Daraitan which can accommodate 4 pax. 100Php each. Some driver asks 500Php. Haggle! Travel time is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon reaching the junction to Daraitan, expect a 30-40 minutes major rough road.

In addition, the association of tricycle drivers in Daraitan do not permit tricycles from Tanay to wait for their passengers while having a tour, hence you can't rent them for a round trip.

3. Reaching the Bgry. Daraitan, you need to ride a boat just to cross a 10 meters wide river for 5Php.

4. On the other side which is the Brgy. Daritan proper, ride a tricycle going to Brgy. Hall to register. Tricycle ride cost 10Php per head and registration fee is 20Php. Here, you will have your tour guide. I would like to thank Kuya Russel, our tour guide for accompanying us.

5. Going back to Tanay Market, ride a tricycle again for 100Php each. Jeepney is available what until 1:00PM only as far as I remember. So if you didn't catch the Jeepney, ride a tricycle instead.

Tour Guide Fee as posted at the Brgy. Hall.
Tinipak Rock/River – 500Php
Daraitan Summit (dayhike) – 800Php
Overnight Fee
Tinipak – additional 50%
Summit – additional 50%

Hehe.

    1. river system trekking + caving pwede po ng 1 day, sobra pa.
then yung climb e 4 hours hike to summit po, so most likely akyat at baba e will make it whole day.

  7. Hi Kirk, thanks for this very informative blog...Just got few questions.

    1) Is the campsite safe/secured enough for all-female campers? Ano po facilities ng campsite (atleast toilet/shower)?

    2) Are camping gears available for rent at campsite or bring your own camping gear?

    3) Will the tourguide stay wt the campers kapag nag-overnite sa campsite?

Thanks Kirk. Hope you reply back. I'll be tagging foreign guests that's why I want to know all the things I should (and shouldn't) know and expect esp about SAFETY.
Thanks again for coming up with this helpful travelblog! Kudos to a job well done!

    Thank u.

  9. Hello Kirk. Great blog! :) Just want to confirm something though. The trykes which go to/from Tanay Public Market to Daraitan, are they always available at the terminal? Wala naman silang fixed skeds like the jeeps?

    1. Yup, always available. Actually, going to Tanay (Tanay Market), pwede na kayong bumaba sa Jollibee pa lang mas madame dung tricycle drivers. Yung Jollibee is before mag Tanay Market. Then pabalik, bago kayo sumakay ng boat going to Daraitan proper, make sure makipag arrange kayo sa tricycle drivers na nakaparada dun na magpapahatid kayo going back to Tanay.

Yung case namen pauwi, nag side trip pa kame sa Daranak Falls, the trike waited for us there, sya na din yung naghatid samen pa Tanay Market.

I just visited Tinipak River, in our case we were able to hire a tricycle for roundtrip, sinamahan pa kami sa entire trip namin, parang tricycle/guide cya but of course may Local guide parin talaga, may mga ibang groups din na may kasamang trike drivers sa trekking nila just like us, so baka pede na yung ganun ngaun :) THANKS sa blog mo, isa to sa mga reference ko when we planned visiting Daraitan. I also have this Tinipak Entry on my blog now hehe
