Bases and Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) finally
unveiled the Master Development Plan of the 146 hectares Poro Point Freeport Zone
(PPFZ) into residential, business and leisure complexes during the official
press conference on Saturday in Thunderbird Resort, La Union.
The Master Development Plan (MDP) which serves as the
blueprint in the expansion and marketing of the entire Freeport Zone targets
the spur of the economic growth by creating four districts: (1) Business Hub
and Lighthouse Area, (2) Commercial Marina and Transit Hub, (3) Sports Town
Center, (4) Cliff-side Home.

District 1: Business Hub and Lighthouse plot include
commercial establishment such BPO – ICT Retail/Shopping. District 2: Commercial
Marina and Transit Hub aims to develop cruise ship terminal and commercial
marina with Intermodal Station. District 3: Sports Town Center will be the emerging
site for the Plaza with Track and Field, Sports Entertainment and Recreational
Town and Medical Hospital too. District 4: Cliff – side Home will be the residential
area of Mixed Use Residential Apartments and Condominium Hotels.
The MDP will also include the upgrading of San Fernando Airport to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization requirements for catering to larger air crafts for international flights. The renovation also comprise of developing an airport terminal with mall complex, flaunted to become a small – scale version of Singapore’s international airport.
Meanwhile, BCDA proudly proclaimed the three road project worth P79 million that were recently completed. These three road projects are the upgrading of the road leading to the Poro Point Lighthouse, upgrading of the road leading to Poro Point Management Corp. (PPMC); and re-blocking and widening of the road leading to the San Fernando Airport.
BCDA believes that’s the completion of the roads will play as the key role in boosting tourism and economic activities within the Freeport Zone and serve as the guide for BCDA and PPMC in determining the most appropriate implementation and marketing strategy for PPFZ.
The PPFZ Master Development Plan was also officially launched to the public during the Sillag Festival ceremony on that night.
